Painted Leaves

Painting leaves on fabric using actual paint. I usually teach and paint my leaves using NeoColor two wax pastels but because these were going on an apron that will be washed I decided to use Jacquard Textile Color painted.

Please realize this is an abstract, simple, and I think fun painting project, no fine art here!

I stiffened the fabric with Terial Magic but ironing the fabric onto freezer paper could also work for stabilizing it.

The apron is black which made it difficult to see but I hope I added enough explanation and close-ups to make what I was demonstrated understandable. Needless to say my next project won’t be on black fabric.

I certainly wouldn’t actually use that apron for cooking after all that work. Maybe for the photo ops. My cooking apron is a mottled bronze color dyed with all the leftovers. It looks it, too, but stains blend right in. And I have that Nancy Crow ruler.

LOL… Cooking, no way, it is an art apron! Though I have already figured out black aprons and black gesso are a bad combination when it comes to transferring paint from apron to places unintended. Ha, so maybe it will become a kitchen apron (kids are mostly gone and my husband cooks for himself much of the time, so I’m not cooking much these days)
I have been looking for another one of those rulers for years, it’s my favorite. Tell you how long we have been at this! Thanks for stopping by.
