Bird in Ivy is an original textile and mixed media piece for the wall. The bird and stem are hand embroidered onto a piece of my hand painted, stenciled, and stamped fabric. A layer of (wool) batting (aka stuffing) was added under the fabric for extra dimension.

The frame is covered in tulle (mesh net fabric) and embellished with quilled fabric coils, cloth covered wire, hand sculpted paper clay leaves and the inside of the frame edge has cording. The piece was then primed and dry brushed with metallic acrylic paints to achieve a rich luster. The outside is edged in grapevine that has been hand stitched on using jute. The back of the piece is a collage of painted paper; it has a jute hanger and is signed. Bird in Ivy is lightweight and approximately 10 inches in diameter.

I recommend the piece be displayed away from direct sunlight, heat, and moisture.
