At first glance Compassion is a painting but a closer look reveals that it is actually an abstract art quilt. Turn to the back for the extensive thread work design in the free-motion quilting.

Details –

Strips of 100% cotton fabric were arranged in a gradation to create the top. Then the top was layered over wool batting and a cotton backing fabric. Compassion was heavily free-motion quilted in a variety of colors, and then the entire quilt top was painted.

Compassion is 28 1/4” x 38 3/4”. It has a hanging sleeve and slat. Two finishing nails are included and may be used for hanging. The piece also has a signed label on the back. Link to my short video - How to hang an art quilt.

The piece may be rolled for delivery and because of that, the heavy quilting, and the paint, it may need some time to relax and become more flat. Please realize this piece isn’t meant to be completely flat and take that into consideration before purchasing.

I recommend the piece be displayed away from direct sunlight, heat, and moisture.
