Dwell is a thought provoking art quilt with a hidden secret - Fossils/bones/skulls are free motion quilted on the lower third and barely visible on the front, but lift the corner and see them clearly, unburied on the back.

Details –

Dwell is a hand painted wholecloth quilt. It includes dupioni silk (dark rust), metallic painted fusible (gold), stenciled turbines (in the sky), hand embroidered steps. The top was layered with quilt batting and backing fabric, and then it was heavily free motion quilted. The binding is made of more hand painted fabric and carries the main design out to the edge.

This piece has a sleeve on the back, and slat for hanging. Two finishing nails are included. The back also has a label and is signed. Dwell is 42” x 30”. Link to my short video - How to hang an art quilt.
