Floating Hummingbird is an original, mixed media piece on canvas. The many colorful layers, quilting, and texture make this piece a wonderful addition to any bird and garden lover’s collection.

The quilted outline of the little hummingbird is set above a colorful flower background. The hummingbird was stamped on raw edged organza fabric, layered onto a painted paper background with a torn paper floral design. These elements were then layered onto a heavy interfacing and free-motion quilted. Next, the quilted piece was layered onto felt and hand embroidered with French knots and straight stitching. Next the canvas was covered in more of the torn painted paper and acrylic paint was applied to the edge.

Floating Hummingbird is 12” square. The back of the piece is wired, ready for hanging, and signed.

I recommend the piece be displayed away from direct sunlight, heat, and moisture.
