As if looking out across the lake from a window or From the Woods; this one-of-a-kind art quilt is the perfect piece for a staircase landing or any vertical space that would benefit from a beautiful work of art.

Details –

From the Woods is a combined expression of my love for painting on fabric and with fabric. After completing a full size drawing, fabric was selected; in this case the sky and water fabrics were hand painted. Each fabric piece was cut out and the drawing was meticulously reconstructed in fabric. There is just a bit of tradition in From the Woods; the cascading hexagons, in two different sizes, are traditional piecework, as are the patchwork squares behind them. The entire top was hand appliqued, then layered with batting and backing fabric. As a traditional piece would have been, From the Woods was hand quilted. A fabric binding edge frames and finishes the piece.

From the Woods is approximately 29” x 62”. It has a hanging sleeve and slat. Two finishing nails are included and may be used for hanging. The piece also has a signed label on the back. Here’s a link to my short video - How to hang an art quilt.
