Unwind is a mixed media and art quilt combination piece that evokes the sounds of the wave and birds at the seashore. It will be a beautiful addition to a living room, bedroom, or other relaxing space.
After hand painting a fabric wholecloth quilt top, I free-motion quilted and manipulated the art quilt to create the look of movement. Silk organza was hand embroidered, stretched in a hoop and that hoop was wrapped in more embroidery floss to echo the sky, water, and land. The hoop is suspended above the art quilt by two small, natural branches.
Unwind is approximately 24" x 17" and extends to about 3.5" away from the wall. It was adhered to a board that was built to set off the wall approximately 3/4”. The back slats are felt covered to protect the wall. The back is also signed and wired, ready to hang.
I recommend the piece be displayed away from direct sunlight, heat, and moisture.
