Landscape Art Quilts

After all these years I have to say that making fabric landscapes is still one of my most favorite artistic adventures. My early pieces were completely hand appliqued and quilted. I still love the hand appliqued pieces, probably because of the smooth finished edges but the speed that comes with machine quilting wins over hand quilting for me now a days.

Teaching miniature landscapes was a favorite because it was where participants would take one of my patterns and totally make it their own.

Here is a quick mini land and waterscapes show, beginning with my very first. Then the video of my most recent painted sky fabric from my previous blog post.

I started sewing and designing using fabric, thread, and paper when I was a child. I taught myself to make quilts, at first not following the "rules," then watched some experts, learned the rules, and made many hand quilted and appliqued quilts. I spent years focusing on miniature landscape quilts. Now I am a fiber and mixed media artist and that encompasses everything I have a passion for. I have taught, lectured, and my work have show nationally and internationally, some pieces have been published.

  1. Wow Ann,
My favorite is the night and day. I’m attracted to the graceful transition between evening and morning.
