I’m working on a commissioned art quilt that is a little larger than anything I have made recently and it has many pastel colors which is a palette I don’t often use. I’m enjoying the process and the challenge! It was requested that the piece have monarch type butterflies and birds, specifically bluebirds. I am… Continue reading Painting birds and butterflies

I started sewing and designing using fabric, thread, and paper when I was a child. I taught myself to make quilts, at first not following the "rules," then watched some experts, learned the rules, and made many hand quilted and appliqued quilts. I spent years focusing on miniature landscape quilts. Now I am a fiber and mixed media artist and that encompasses everything I have a passion for. I have taught, lectured, and my work have show nationally and internationally, some pieces have been published.
More fun with quilling fabric
I made more coils and left them tightly coiled instead of making flowers. Then I turned them into a coil mosaic. I’m still fine tuning this process. The fabric is first treated with Terial Magic (TM) which makes the fabric stiff like paper. The trick is to use the right amount of glue (glue sticks… Continue reading More fun with quilling fabric
Fabric Quilling
I seems to have taken a detour which means I started working on something I didn’t plan to. Before I get back to where I should be going, which is creating a new mini landscape, I thought I’d share this. I treated some of my hand painted fabric with Terial Magic, a neat spray that… Continue reading Fabric Quilling

On Saturday they created beautiful pieces in my Miniature Landscapes workshop, held at Primitive Gatherings CA . If you get the opportunity to visit that shop you will… Continue reading Talk and Workshop
Heart Art: A Tutorial
I thought I would take a little break from my deadline work and play a bit. I’m not usually a heart art kind of person but this was fast and fun. I’ll leave it to you to think up ideas of where the finished heart could be used… maybe a tiny art quilt, on a… Continue reading Heart Art: A Tutorial
Winter Table Runner
Last post I mentioned our mild San Diego winters. I suppose compared to most places it is but right after I wrote that the rain came along with hail here in the city and even some snow in the low elevations and our mountains. That was a week ago, this week it has been in… Continue reading Winter Table Runner

Winter has arrived, San Diego style – No snow just a little rain. Our garden plants are so happy. Until then I’m sharing a couple easy projects that my young sewing student has and will… Continue reading Winter
Art in the Park and more…
There are so many art events going on in and around San Diego this month. I wish I could attend all of them but that’s not going to happen. Here is a video my son produced for Mission Trails Regional Park Foundation. He and I each have three pieces of art in the Art in… Continue reading Art in the Park and more…
Getting in there and finishing…
Well, I’m back! August was a month of many projects or should I say the beginning of many projects… and the finish of a few. I wonder if you have had that same situation (I hate to call it a “problem”), discovering so many new techniques, materials, and products to make art that at times… Continue reading Getting in there and finishing…
